Justin Roiland: Charges of domestic violence against the creator of Rick and Morty were dropped

US defence lawyers have dropped allegations of domestic abuse against Rick and Morty co-creator and voice actor Justin Roiland.

According to a spokeswoman for the Orange County district attorney, charges against an ex-girlfriend were dropped "due to a lack of adequate evidence beyond a reasonable doubt."

"I'm still deeply shaken by the horrible lies reported about me," Roiland said on Twitter.

Roiland, 43, co-created Rick and Morty with Dan Harmon in 2013 and voiced the title characters in the anarchic Emmy-winning animated sitcom about a scientist and his grandson.

He continued, "I'm so disappointed that so many people were so quick to judge without having all the information and based only on the word of an enraged ex who tried to evade the legal system and have me "cancelled."

The Cartoon Network's Adult Swim division, which had "terminated our affiliation" with Roiland upon the charges' public disclosure in January, declared that Rick and Morty would continue without him for its seventh season despite this. Reports indicated his roles would be redone.
